The Mediterranean Festival of Al Hoceima

The sixth day of The Mediterranean Festival of Al Hoceima also witnessed a magnificent performance from the part of the participants. Mohamed VI hall received a huge public which rocked the hall during the whole evening. Also, this day was characterized by the participation of different artists coming from different cultural and geographical backgrounds.

The first artist to participate in this evening was Sullit, an old brilliant local singer accompanied by his fine band. Sullit is best known for his famous song Macha Maghar. He is one of the founders of modern music in the Rif. He participated in numerous national and international occasions in which he presented the music of the Rif. The musical style of Sullit is a mixture of pop and blues. He has always come up with new ways of fusion between different musical instruments. During his participation in the sixth day of the festival, he presented some of his successful songs and attracted the attention of the public who echoed back the songs.

Again the idea of the openness of the Festival to other cultures and regions was represented by the performance of the Spanish group La AgrupaciĆ³n Coral de Sencelles. They showed a great talent in singing and the public seemed to like their performance.

The last group to participate in the evening came from Holland. This was a famous group called Thidrin. It is a fantastic group of young activists from the first hour determined to defend the great Amazigh cause. Most of their songs treat issues like immigration, the situation of the women in the Rif, motherhood and historical memory. And as expected, their performance was great. They played some of their famous and new songs which the public was already familiar with. With their warm, rhythmic, and melodic voice, Thidrin made of the evening an unforgettable moment.
