Agraw Club at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, in partnership with Rif Association for Solidarity and Development (ARID), organized the first edition of Rif Cultural Day on Monday December 3rd, 2007 in Ifrane. The program of the day comprises an exhibition, a conference and a concert. The exhibition of paintings, jewelries and authentic Amazigh handicrafts, organized by Touiza association from Tangiers, was visited by a large number of students and Agraw’s guests. The conference entitled “Rif Region: Mutations and Challenges” was animated by the famed Mr. Elyass El Omari who could attract an outsized audience.
The intermission between the conference and the concert was taken up by Omssassa association of Ahidous from Imouzzer Kandar. Half an hour before the beginning of the show, the six hundreds seats in the auditorium were filled. At 21:15. The president of Agraw Club gave a marvelous opening word which impressed the audience. She thanked the devotion of the Key elements that made it possible to organize such a great event. About the mission of Agraw which was created just 3 months ago, she said “Our mission is to be an active club within Al Akhawayn University through organizing and supporting cultural activities that will enhance cultural communication. We believe, in Agraw club, that the interaction between different cultures will enrich cultural awareness and esteem of the other.”
Then, Idir, the pioneer of Amazigh music, joined the stage with his accomplished and jovial team members. The concert of the incomparable singer started with lengthy, warm applause. More than one thousand individuals attended the spectacle though the auditorium contains only six hundreds seats. Among the attendants, there were dignitaries of Al Akhawayn University and others from Ifrane, Meknes, Fes, Al Hoceima and further cities.
Nobody can deny the great success of the first edition of the Rif Cultural Day in Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. It is judged to be the outstanding event of the year. It could catch the attention of a big audience. A large group of people who, coming from different places and with so many rich and different experiences, are able to speak the same language, that of music. The fabulous music, the speeches full of wisdom, and the unforgettable songs of the pioneer of Amazigh music seduced everybody. All the members of Agraw club received sincere congratulations for the remarkable achievement.
